Semipalmated Sandpiper

This small, wading bird feeds on arthropods, molluscs and worms. It is a highly migratory species that breeds in the Arctic regions of North America before traveling southwards to congregate in Central and South America and, to a lesser degree, the Caribbean and Florida. During the winter the semipalmated sandpipers gather together along the coastline of northern South America, particularly in Surinam, French Guiana and north-central Brazil.
