Yokahú Tower is one of two observation towers within El Yunque rainforest. The 30 metre- (75 foot-) tall structure sits 480 metres (1,575 feet) above sea level and was built by the Forest Service in 1962, in the same style as the older Mt. Britton Tower.
There are 98 steps to the top of the tower, where visitors have a panoramic view of the northeastern coast, offshore islands and the mountain peaks. Due to Yokahú being located at a lower altitude than Mt. Britton, the views are often clearer and, on a good day, can extend for 16 kilometres (10 miles). In the winter, soaring hawks (both red-tailed and broad-winged) perform spectacular mating displays.
Yokahú Tower is located at mid-elevation on road 191 in El Yunque rainforest. It can be visited as part of the Bespoke Concierge Rainforest Hiking Tour.
Open daily from 9:00 to 17:00.
