Situated by the Rocky Mountains, Denver the “Mile High City” is worth the visit. An active life-style is part of the city’s distinct culture. But, the city also offers numerous opportunities to relax and be entertained, as well.

You will find as I did, that one visit is insufficient when you visit Denver! There is so much to do inside and outside Denver. A rental car or RV Rental is all you need to explore areas outside Denver, if you have not brought your own transportation.

Here are 6 fun things to do in Denver!

Getting Around the City is Easy

You will find few cities that boast 85 miles of bike trails. Denver is a biking paradise waiting to be discovered. Using the Denver B-cycle bike-sharing program to get around let me get to know the city at my own pace. For a small fee, bikes are available from any of the 84 stations around Denver. Another fun way to get around is by renting a scooter from ScooTours Denver, which also offers fun guided tours you can take with family, friends, or by yourself.
Pedal-cab and horse-drawn carriages tours offer enjoyable ways for a couple, or a couple of friends, to explore the city. Denver’s light rail system and private car services are other ways to get around.
A few of the many things you can do in Denver are suggested below. To discover the other things you can do in and around Denver, research to see what else is offered by this great American city!

Please Your Palate at Local Craft Breweries and Food Halls

Denver is a beer lovers’ heaven. You cannot visit Denver and not visit at least one ( I would recommend more) of its local craft breweries! With over a hundred brewpubs and breweries, Denver’s the peerless urban beer-producing region.
To get started get a copy of the free Denver Beer Trail booklet that provides a guide to the 20 downtown venues. For a fun time, you can join the Denver Cruiser Ride for a small fee. The pub crawl has a different weekly theme (with zany costume themes to match). Get in on the fun any Wednesday. The pub crawl operates from May through September.
The Avanti F&B, The Source, and The Denver Central Market offer a variety of tempting food and beverage alternatives to the city’s restaurants and pubs.

Explore Confluence Park’s Kayak Chutes

Minutes from downtown, Confluence Park offers kayaking adventures. The well-equipped Confluence Kayaks is the place to go for kayak gear and accessories.

Walk along the City Park’s Trail, Or Hike in Red Rocks Park

The City Park’s 3.1-mile trail follows the mile high city’s contour line. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre (where summer concerts take place) is a haven for hikers and bikers. Its 1.4 mile-long Trading Post Trail has scenic rock formations and passes a meadow and valleys.
The Red Rocks Trail challenges mountain bikers’ skills. The trail divides into two branches, one branch leads to Jefferson County’s Matthews/Winters Park in the north; and the other goes eastward towards the Dakota Ridge Trail.

Go Swimming, Skating, or Sailing

Going swimming at the Downtown Aquarium offers an experience to remember! If you bring your own gear, the Denver Skatepark’s waiting to challenge boarders, skaters and bikers like you. For a more serene excursion, rent a pedal boat on Smith Lake in Washington Park.

Check out the Botanic Gardens and the Zoo

With 45 distinctive gardens and one of the top 10 conservatories in the country, the Denver Botanic Gardens offers 24-acres of serenity. I would also recommend the Denver Zoo’s Toyota Elephant Passage that allows you to get closer to wild life in an Asian village setting.
Denver offers a cornucopia of sites to see and can be a starting point for exploring other exciting parts of Colorado with a rental car, or an RV Rental. You will not be disappointed by the urban pleasures and outdoor activities you can experience in and around Denver!
