La Digue is named after one of the ships in Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne’s fleet. Despite having a length of only five kilometres and a width of only three kilometres, this is the fourth largest of the Seychelles Islands and is supposed to be the most beautiful.
On La Digue many people travel by bicycle and there are very few cars in the streets. This gives the island a ‘step back in time’ feel and traditional methods of boat building and refining coconut products are still used here.
