Coolangatta is a fantastically fun city that has everything you need for a great vacation. You can spend your days relaxing on the beach, surfing, or exploring all of the natural wonders that surround this amazing place. There are many great things to do in Coolangatta, Australia. Here are my top picks:
Visit Mt. Warning National Park
If you’re visiting Coolangatta, Australia, it would be criminal not to visit Mt. Warning National Park. It is one of the oldest national parks in Australia and it has a lot to offer visitors.
- The glow worms
The only place in the world where you can see glow worms is at Mt. Warning National Park! These little creatures are cool because they create their light using bioluminescence—that means that they produce their form of light without any help from an external source like electricity or fireflies (which use chemical reactions rather than bioluminescence). Glow worms live inside large caves on Mount Warning, which makes them even more special because this particular cave is one of the few places where these creatures live naturally outside New Zealand! Go check out these tiny little guys while you’re there!
Koalas are adorable animals that you don’t often see roaming around cities like Sydney or Brisbane but luckily for us travelers who want to see some cute critters while we’re in Coolangatta, there’s a zoo located right next door! The zoo has koalas as well as other native Australian animals such as wallabies and dingoes (wild dog species).
Gaze at the stars
Gazing at the stars is one of the best ways to fully appreciate the beauty and magic of Coolangatta. Looking up at this nighttime sky, you can see the constellations, planets, nebulae, and galaxies that twinkle above us in a way that’s unique to this area. To gaze at these stars, simply find a spot where there isn’t any light pollution (such as street lights or headlights) and look up! If you’re traveling with friends or family members who don’t want to stare off into space for hours on end (and who could blame them?), you can bring along a blanket so that everyone has something comfortable to sit on while they relax together beneath the night sky.
Take a cooking class
Coolangatta is a great place to relax and enjoy the beach. You can also get some cooking classes while you’re there, which will give you an excuse to make friends with other travelers. This is a great way to learn new skills and meet new people. Cooking classes are a great way to spend your time, whether you want to learn how to cook delicious meals or just want an excuse to spend more time with friends!
Swim with the whales
If you’re looking for a unique experience, why not swim with the whales? The Whitsunday Islands are an amazing place to do this. You can also swim with dolphins and seals, turtles, sharks, and stingrays or rays!
Climb the “glow worm tree”
Glow worms are a type of fungi that live in the roots of trees. They are found in New Zealand, Australia, and other parts of the world. Unlike insects which have six legs, glow worms have eight legs.
Glow-worm trees can be seen at night when they gently glow like tiny lights on the branches of their host tree. This is because they are emitting light to attract their food source (small flies). These trees can reach up to 10 meters high!
Spend a day in the forest
You should spend a day in the forest. The forest is a large area of land with lots of trees and plants living there. You can do many things in the forest, but one thing you can’t do is ride your bike because it’s illegal to ride bikes in the forest. To get to the forest, you must take a bus from Coolangatta train station, which is on Beaconsfield Parade at 3 pm sharp every Friday afternoon if you don’t miss it!
You should expect to see lots of animals when you arrive at the forest, including kangaroos and koalas (if they aren’t sleeping). There are also plenty of trees for shade so make sure to bring sunscreen before venturing out into nature’s playground!
Go four-wheel driving in Lamington National Park
If you’re staying in Coolangatta and want to take a day trip, Lamington National Park is the perfect place to go. It’s only two hours away by car and there is over 100km of trails that you can explore.
Four-wheel driving is a great way to see Lamington National Park while having fun at the same time! You can even stay overnight in one of their campsites if you want to make a weekend out of it.
You can reach Lamington National Park by continuing south on Nerang–Murwillumbah Road until it meets up with Corbett Parade, turn left onto Corbett Parade, then keep going for about 10km.
Enjoy your time in Coolangatta, Australia!
Coolangatta is a beautiful, sunny town that offers many activities for visitors. The best time to visit is between May and October when the weather is warm but not too hot. You’ll find that the locals are friendly, and there’s plenty to see and do in this charming town.
